Currently, I am diligently studying at Houston Baptist University to get a degree in Elementary Education (EC-6 with ESL) while preparing for my state certification exams. I hope to continue in my education by going to graduate school to get a master's degree. Teaching children is my passion and it will be my joy to dedicate my energy into my students, always serving them with compassion and humility. I cannot wait to fill the many roles of a teacher while helping to expand bright minds.

Copyright PowerPoint
|
Standard 6 |
Standard 1 |
While creating this PowerPoint, I learned how to create multiple forms of media while abiding by copyright laws. This PowerPoint is a useful tool for students, especially in older grades, because they can learn how to create projects that do not violate copyright laws. It demonstrates TEA Standard 6 because it ensures that I am holding myself to high standards and maintaining ethical practices. It demonstrates the first technology standard because it helps lead to ethical practices and informed decision-making. |
Delicious Scrapbook |
Standard 3 |
Standard 2 |
While creating a "scrapbook" on Delicious, I learned how to electronically gather and store data. This is a useful tool because I can save and refer to multiple activities for students. This meets TEA Standard 3 because it ensures that I understand the content and have put in the time and effort to research what is best for my students. It meets the second technology standard because it demonstrates my ability to apply search strategies to collect information. |
Graphing Lesson Plan
|
Standard 1 |
Standard 4 |
While designing this interdisciplinary lesson plan, I learned how to format a standard lesson plan and how to find and incorporate age-appropriate graphing assignments for young students. This lesson plan is helpful because it incorporates mathematics into a Thanksgiving unit. It meets TEA Standard 1 because I planned instruction based on state standards and data. It also demonstrates the fourth technology standard because the lesson calls for creating a large graph and lots of class discussion, helping to meet the needs of diverse learners with different learning preferences. |
Reading Reflections
|
Standard 1 |
Standard 4 |
While creating the reading reflections, I learned how to use a lot of tools in Microsoft Word that I was unaware of before. This skill is useful because I can create worksheets, parent notes, posters, collages, and more to aid student learning and parent involvement. It demonstrates the first TEA standard because it provides a way to differentiate instruction while keeping it relevant to the students. It meets the fourth technology standard because there are so many ways to change it up in order to direct it towards multiple learning styles while providing novelty for students. |
TEASe |
Standard 2 |
Standard 3 |
During this project, I learned how to create a video using editing, music, and videos while abiding to copyright laws. This is a wonderful tool for students because it provides an exciting and intriguing introduction to a lesson or unit. It can also be referred to throughout a unit. This meets the second TEA standard because it was made with the students' abilities and needs in mind. It also demonstrates the third technology standard because it asks probing questions for each student to answer and prompts a class discussion. |
Treasure Hunt |
Standard 5 |
Standard 3 |
While completing this assignment, I learned how to create a website using Weebly that takes students through the desired content. It is a useful tool because it provides novelty for students and helps them grow as self-directed learners. It demonstrates the fifth TEA Standard because it is an informal resource for children in which the teacher can use to assess student understanding, while still meeting the unit's objectives and aligning with state standards. It demonstrates the third technology standard because it is an age-appropriate resource that promotes both individual learning and problem-solving as a group. |
Thanksgiving Unit Plan |
Standard 2 Standard 4 |
Standard 5 |
While creating this unit plan, I learned how to plan to make elements of multiple lessons come together and how to create age-appropriate assessments. This tool is helpful because it has links to many resources to teach Thanksgiving and it can be edited to be made better as time goes by. It can also be a tool for parents and other teachers. The unit plan demonstrates both the second and fourth TEA standards; it exhibits the second standard because it was designed primarily to engage students in meaningful learning in diverse ways. It exhibits the fourth TEA standard because each lesson helps to creates a positive and safe learning environment. It demonstrates the fifth technology standard because it indicates thourough planning skills and intentional organization/structure. |
